Wimbledon Champ KG Montjane mourns the death of her mother

The family of Wimbledon Wheelchair Tennis champion Kgothatso ‘KG’ Montjane have announced the death of her mother, Margaret. Margaret Montjane’s passing comes just a few days after the congratulatory dinner of her daughter at Meropa Casino, Polokwane.

She was also one of the speakers at the event attended by amongst others Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba.

At the event, held on 23 July, Margaret described her daughter as someone with powerful strength who never saw herself as a disabled child. But none days later, the family announced the sad news of her passing. She passed away in hospital on Wednesday after losing a battle against kidney complications.

“On behalf of Kgothatso ‘KG’ Montjane and the Montjane family, we are deeply saddened to announce the unexpected passing of Margaret Montjane, KG’s beloved mother, last night in the hospital,” the family announced.

“She lost her battle to kidney complications. During this period of mourning, the Montjane family and Optimize kindly ask for privacy and will share funeral arrangements in due course.

“Margaret was a pillar of strength and love within her family and community. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support were felt by all who had the privilege to know her,” read a family statement.

“She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and generosity that will continue to inspire and uplift those she touched. She is mourned by two daughters, a son, and two grandchildren.”
