Polokwane celebrates sports heroes in the Municipality

The Polokwane Municipality hosted a grand celebration to honour sporting stars for their recent success in different sporting codes. This includes 2024 Wimbledon winner Kgothatso Montjane and Comrades Marathon runners.
The runners include veterans Rufus Photo, and Ludwick Mamabolo as well as oldest comrades runner Johannes Mosehla.
PSL clubs Magesi FC, Sekhukhune United and Polokwane City FC were amongst the teams that were also celebrated. President of Netball SA Cecilia Molokwane was also honoured at the event that took place at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium.

“Hosting this celebration means a lot to Polokwane Municipality,” said executive Mayor John Moe during his address.
“It shows our assurance to excellence, unity, and pride in our people. By recognizing our local heroes, we inspire future generations to follow their dreams with the same passion and determination.
“This event highlights how sports can bring us together, close gaps, and strengthen our community bonds.”
