Miss South Africa contestant Chidimma Adetshina has withdrawn from the pageant following the findings by the Home Affairs department. Adetshina’s participation in the competition has been marred by controversy with the South African public questioning her eligibility.Ā
Although she was born in South Africa, both her parents are not from the country. Her father is a Nigerian while her mother is from Mozambique.Ā

However, it has since been established that her mother might have committed a crime when applying for her birth certificate. The Department of Home Affairs has committed to investigate further.Ā
Political Parties such as the Patriotic Alliance had approached the courts to interdict her participation in the pageant. But the party has since withdrawn the court case. This follows an official confirmation by Adetshina that he will no longer take part.Ā
“Thanks to the papers we served on Adetshina through the organisers, she has now withdrawn from the pageant,” they said.
“We would like to thank all patriots for sticking with us through this regrettable episode. During which the PA and its leaders were insulted and labelled “xenophobic” and “mamparas”.
