Grade 10 learner found dead in Lulekani

The body of a female Grade 10 Learner who was reported missing on Monday was found dumped at Madanwini, Lulekani in Limpopo. The learner is from Majeje High School in Lulekani Circuit under the Mopani East Education District.

She was reported missing on Monday, 5 August 2024. Meanwhile, three unidentified men were caught stealing laptops and other school essentials. The incident took place at Monyong Secondary School [Capricorn North Education District].
In a separate incident, Mochocho Primary School, Capricorn South Education District was also broken into. However, the thieves were unsuccessful in getting inside the school’s admin block and nothing was taken at the school.

“The department is deeply saddened by these incidents and extends heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and all those who are affected,” said MEC, Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya.
“We call on the law enforcement agencies to speedily arrest the perpetrators and ensure they are held accountable for their evil deeds. It cannot be business as usual when our future leaders are brutally killed, especially in a month when women are recognized and appreciated.
“The continuous break-ins and stealing of school property is also a cause for concern. We call on the community to take a stand and protect the education of their children,” added MEC Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya.
The Department added that they will be dispatching a team of experts to the family to provide psychosocial support.
