Limpopo club Baroka FC announced the signing of 11 new players, including the addition of another sponsor in Lebowakgomo on Saturday. Baroka missed out on a chance to gain promotion to the Betway Premiership last season. They replaced coach Dan Malesela and brought in Morgan Mammila who was the club CEO before.

On Saturday, the club hosted an open media Day at the club village in Lebowakgomo. Club Boss Khurishi Mphahlele has mandated coach Mammila to secure automatic promotion at the end of the season.
âI would not celebrate the playoffs as I didnât celebrate the playoffs last season,â Mphahlele told the media.
âWe want the championship. We are a team that is able to conquer. If we are able to win against the top teams, why canât we also win against teams at our level? We must win the league; we want to be number one, nothing else,” he added.

Amongst the new signing is 16-year-old Seboledi Mphahlele who happens to be the son of the chairman. Mphahlele insists his Son was signed on merit and there was no favour from the technical team.
âHe was not selected by me, he was selected by the coach, the players, the technical team and the supporters,” explained Mphahlele.
“So everybody was happy with him during the trials. I did not tell them he is my son. I was actually sitting with some of the supporters from Baroka, who happen to own a local football club.
âWhere we were sitting, he was always mentioning him, and when the trials ended, thatâs when he knew that the boy he was mentioning was my son. So he is here on merit; he is not here because he is my son. But he can play good football,â said Mphahlele. Baroka have announced that Mafori Group are now the official sleeve sponsors.
