Premier Ramathuba launches ‘Hi Nwa Mati Friday’ initiative

Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba on Friday officially launched the ‘Hi Nwa Mati Friday’ initiative at Homu Village, Giyani.
The ‘Hi Nwa Mati Friday’ project is aimed at ensuring that every resident of Limpopo has access to clean and safe drinking water. It is a weekly call to action that mobilizes all sectors of government and society to address the water needs of our communities actively.

Ramathuba says the initiative is aimed at demanding accountability where there is no progress. It was the Premier’s commitment during the opening of the Legislature for the 7th administration early this month. Â

She has outlined that in the next two weeks, the remaining 700 households will be receiving water once the mainline pipeline is connected. Premier emphasized that the seventh administration will not tolerate being told about progress reports of projects, whereas communities on the ground want to receive clean drinking water.Â
Meanwhile, Premier DR Rmathuba also went to the old Giyani College of Education to monitor the progress of its refurbishment. Ramathuba’s administration made an undertaking that the soon-to-be Tshwane University of Technology [TUT] satellite campus will have its first cohort of students next year.
Early in the day, Dr Ramathuba, MEC for Health Dieketseng Mashego, and Executive Mayor of Mopani Pule Shai visited the Nkhensani Hospital. This was to launch Operation Bulamahlo which is a flagship programme of Rural Health Matters.
It is aimed at reducing the cataract surgery backlog affecting patients to restore their vision. This programme is conducted throughout the province in all districts.Â
