Premier Mathabatha to launch 16 days of activism

Limpopo Premier, Stanley Mathabatha will on the 25 November 2021, virtually launch the 16 Days of Activism For No Violence Against Women and Children.
This year, 16 Day campaign is commemorated under theme “The Year of Charlotte Mannya Maxeke: 16 Days of Activism – moving from awareness to accountability”.

The 16 Days of Activism campaign is broadened to also look and deal with issues of violence against the youth. The LGBTQIA+ community and children with disabilities.

Other key commemorative Days observed annually during this 16 Day period include World Aids Day on 1st December and the International Day for Persons with Disabilities on 3rd December.
“With the current sporadic killings of women, girls and children happening in the province. It is evident that there is a need to look at accountability in terms of implementation of actions. These actions or measures includes amongst others, involvement of men and boys in fighting violence. In changing attitudes and behaviour, operations of effective victim empowerment programmes and re-enforcement of CPFs in combating crime,” Premier Mathabatha said.
“The intention is to move beyond the rhetoric and to move from awareness raising to accountability but vested within prevention. Addressing GBVF is not government sole responsibility but a whole of society approach” added Mathabatha. The event will start at 11: 00
