“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” rightly said by the former President of South Africa and political activist, Nelson Mandela.
As the 2022 academic year is around the corner, PMC together with its contractor Bulk Dynamics deemed it fit to extend a helping hand to local schools in Bushbuckridge region. This good cause initiative was a success as a result of effective Stakeholder Engagement with Bushbuckridge Local Forum (BLF). This relationship was established since 2019. The BLF leaders are doing a splendid job by going around schools, and identifying disadvantaged learners with the help of school representatives. The operations Manager, Mr Juluka Kubayi from Bulk Dynamics was filled with joy as he handed over the school shoes to the principals.
EARLY CHRISTMAS FOR BUSHBUCKRIDGE RESIDENTS FROM PALABORWA MINING COMPANY
“Our relationship with BLF started in 2019 on a rocky foundation when the Bushbuckridge residents were raising valid concerns about their safety regarding the increased number of trucks that are transporting magnetite from PMC to Maputo. We have managed to change the rocky foundation to a solid one after we reached a common ground that allowed us to execute the projects we had lined up for the year 2021. A word of appreciation goes to PMC for their guidance in a structured community engagement”.
As we are aware that Christmas is the season of spreading love and giving. PMC together with Bulk Dynamics ensured that the true meaning of Christmas was experienced through handing over 130 food parcels to Bushbuckridge residents with the help of Bushbuckridge Local Municipality. This donation is not for the first time as PMC with Bulk Dynamics previously donated 140 school shoes in May 2021, a borehole, scholar patrol equipment for school situated near the R40 road and laptops to assist schools with their administration work.
Zulu Shikati, Superintendent: Stakeholder Engagement and Community Relations expressed how grateful he is for the good working relationship they have built with the Bushbuckridge Local Municipality executive mayor, Sylvia Nxumalo.
“Let us keep working together for the benefit of the communities we operate in. if there are any challenges that we stumble upon, let us sit down and talk for a positive result”.
