Sapa Yopa fever hits the streets of Polokwane

The Sapa Yopa Motorcycle Club will kick off the twelve annual Sapa Yopa Moto GP Rally with Gala Dinner at Sun Meropa on Thursday evening.

A series of activities are expected from Friday when they host Fun Track at Silicon, followed by the Sapa pre-party at Jembe tavern at Sun Meropa.

SAPA YOPA WEEKEND BEGIN

On Saturday the City of Polokwane streets will roar with the sound of bikers when bikers from the SADC region invade Sun Meropa. This is for a Mass ride themed Moto GP from Sun Meropa to Silicon race track.

On Sunday Bikers will gather at Polokwane Chisanyama Waterland for an after-party.

GALA DINNER OPENS PROCEEDINGS

According to Sapa Yopa Motorcycle Club president, Tebogo DJ Cuppoccion Maswanganyi, Thursday’s gala dinner is about engaging with the stakeholders and opening for the massive weekend.

“The theme of the gala dinner is masqueraded and it will be classy as always. The first citizen of Polokwane Makoro John Mpe, MEC for Sport, Arts, and Culture Nakedi Sibanda-Kekana will welcome the bikers,” said Maswanganyi.

He said he is also expecting thousands of bikers as always.

“We expect a good turnout. We are also challenging investors. People who love biking to build race tracks that can be utilized for such hence the theme is Motor GP.

“We are going to have a workshop on safety riding. We have Morongoa 83, and Sfiso 63 who are professional riders who are coming to give a workshop. KingDonut will also come and give a lecture on safety,” he said.

“Motorists should also look out for bikers, they should be on the lookout for bikers. In most cases, accidents are caused by motorists. We are also urging that everyone should be vigilant on the road including the bikers.”
