The province of Limpopo welcomes Idols Winner Thapelo Molomo in style  

The Province of Limpopo on Friday held a special welcome ceremony for SA idols 18 winner Thapelo Molomo.

Thapelo Molomo confounded pundits by snatching the Idols 18 Competition under the nose of his closest rival Nozi Sibiya from KwaZulu Natal on Sunday, 13 November. 

The welcome party began with a Cultural Carnival walk in Polokwane. It was attended by amongst others attended by MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture, Ms Nakedi Kekana. She was accompanied by Polokwane Municipality Executive Mayor, John Mpe. Molomo’s entire family and friends ware also in attendance.

THAPELO MOLOMO HONOURED 

“We are so proud to welcome our son, our star in Limpopo. During the run up campaign to his win, we knew in our hearts that we have a star here,” MEC Nakedi Kekana said.

The Carnival walk also forms part of the Mapungubwe Arts Festival which officially begins on Friday. It will come to an end on Saturday, 10 December.

From Polokwane, Thapelo Molomo will on Saturday also be welcomed in Mogalakwena Local Municipality in Mokopane. There will also be lots of activities which will culminate at his home village of Diretsaneng on Sunday, 04 December with a mini festival.

“We are proud and excited for Thapelo’s win. This will serve as an encouragement to our children who are residing in rural villages that their success cannot be determined by the background they are coming from.”

Thapelo Molomo also forms part of the 2022 Mapungubwe Arts Festival line up which has about 90 % of Limpopo’s musicians.
