Limpopo man dies in the hands of a vigilante group

Police in Seshego outside of Polokwane in Limpopo arrested three suspects aged between 39 and 62 on Friday, in connection with a case of Murder in the hands of a vigilante group. The Incident occurred in March 2023.
It is alleged that on 29 March at about 23:45, Police were called to a scene of the murder at Moletjie, Nduna ‘s Kraal at Ga-Chokoe. Upon arrival at the house, a family member showed them the lifeless body of 36-year-old Phineas Legodi.
VIGILANTE GROUP KILLS 36-YEAR-OLD MAN
Preliminary investigation also revealed that the young man was allegedly assaulted by a group of people. They were calling themselves security officers onĀ 2023-03-29Ā as he went to Nduna’a Kraal demanding his money (R400-00). The deceased was also found with bruises on the buttocks.
The Police conducted further investigation by obtaining statements and gathering evidence that led to the arrest of three suspects on Friday.
The Provincial Commissioner of the Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe welcomed the arrest of the suspects.

“Mob justice has a negative impact in the stabilization of crime in the Province. As such, the community should desist from such actions and let the law take its course.
“Anyone who needs to assist Police in preventing crime is welcome to join SAPS existing Crime Prevention Structures. To also ensure that crime is a thing of the past,” concluded Lieutenant GeneralĀ Hadebe.
The three suspects will appear before Seshego Magistrate Court soon on Charge of murder.
