Molefi Ntseki has been fired by Soweto Giants Kaizer Chiefs with Cavin Johnson taking over as new coach. The decision was announced by the club on Monday after a meeting held on Monday morning.

Amakhosi were knocked out of the Carling Knockout on Saturday after a 1-0 loss to AmaZulu. They are now left with the Nedbank Cup and also the DStv Premiership to try end their eight-season trophy drought.

“Following a meeting on Monday morning, Molefi Ntseki’s tenure as Head Coach of Kaizer Chiefs has ended amicably by mutual consent. Given the recent run of disappointing results, the parties agreed that this was the best course of action under the prevailing circumstances,” the club said in a statement.

“Cavin Johnson, who recently joined Chiefs as Head of the Youth Development Academy, will take over as the First Team coach on an interim basis. Current assistant coach Dillon Sheppard will retain his position under Johnson.

“Assistant Coach, Arthur Zwane will return to his former role within the development structures of the Club,” they said.
