Burgersfort-based Businessman Solly Tayob [65] who was kidnapped 28 days ago has been reunited with his beloved family in Limpopo. Tayob, a Principal Dealership Owner of Burgersfort Toyota, Burgersfort Hyundai and Burgersfort Isuzu, was kidnapped on 2 June 2023.

The incident took place at his Hyundai Dealership by heavily armed suspects with military precision at about 19:45.

The Multi-Disciplinary Team embarked on a 27-day intensive cyber forensic and unconventional Investigative methodologies to ensure the successful recovery of Tayob on Friday, 30 June.

It was made up of; Limpopoi HAWKS, National CI: MDOC, Crime Scene Management; Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC); Burgersfort Highway patrol and Bravalor Risk Private Investigators. The team was led by Major General Gopz Govender.

SOLLY TAYOB REUNITED WITH FAMILY

Two accused were arrested and also appeared in the Practiseer Magistrate Court. They are due to reappear on Monday, 03 July 2023.

The victim’s family has highly appreciated the Multidisciplinary Task Team’s intervention and its success and endurance.

The National Head of the DPCI, Lieutenant General Godfrey Lebeya has also commended the team for the work executed. He has further directed the leader that no stone should be left unturned until all those who were involved are brought to book.

Police in Limpopo have activated the appropriate resources to trace and apprehend suspects after a Burgersfort well-known businessman was kidnapped on Friday.

The businessman was at one of his filling Stations when the incident occurred on Friday 02 June at about 19:30

WELL-KNOWN BURGERSFORT BUSINESSMAN KIDNAPPED

According to the information available at this stage the taxi driver was confronted and pointed with a firearm by an unknown male suspect. He demanded car keys while the five unknown male suspects accosted the businessman and subsequently forced him into a black VW Golf 7 GTI with unknown Registration. He then drove away with him followed by a white Mercedes Benz Registration No 786 AGM L.

In another incident, unknown male suspects who pretended to be the police in the same area went to a rental house and hijacked a black Mercedes Benz from a tenant at gunpoint.

Police were notified of these Incidents. The police reported that the earliest stage of the investigations came up with a recovery of a hijacked Silver Mercedes Benz. It was abandoned around Bothashoek village and a rifle LM 5 with twenty-five live ammunition dropped in the bushes.

A team comprising members of the Organised Crime Investigation Unit together with the Station Detectives. As well as members of the Crime Intelligence Unit are hard on the heels of the suspects. They are also investigating cases of Kidnapping, pointing of firearms, and car hijacking as well as impersonating a police officer.
