The two suspects in the recent Venda Cash-in-transit heist Matidza Andani and Mudau Rembuluwani Zachariah have abandoned bail. The two, from  Makwarela ext. 3, appeared before Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday in connection with the Cash-in-transit of Venda Plaza, Phangami Mall and Shayandima complex.

The two were involved in the robberies of Fidelity vehicles where R4,2 million was stolen in the Thulamela area..

They are facing three counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances. Two counts of attempted murder, unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition.

SUSPECTS ABANDONED BAIL

Rembuluwani Zachariah Mudau [29] was arrested on 15 June in possession of a 9mm pistol and 13 live rounds of ammunition in Shayandima. Police are still looking for other suspects. The state was ready to proceed with the matter, however, the suspects in the Cash-in-transit heist abandoned their bail application. 

The matter is adjourned to 18 August 2023, for investigations and the accused persons will remain in custody.
