Two New Limpopo MECs sworn into office on Friday in Polokwane are determined to take their departments to great heights.
MEC Rodgers Monama has been sworn in to lead the Department of Limpopo Economic Development, Environment and Tourism (LEDET). MEC Nakedi Sibanda-Kekana will lead the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture (DSAC).
Sibanda-Kekana thanked the Premier, Mr. Chupu Stanley Mathabatha, for the trust he bestowed on her. She also said she will execute her responsibilities to the best of her ability. She will also implement fully policies of government; maximize services to the communities and respond to challenges raised.
NEW LIMPOPO MECs SWORN IN
Responding to questions about her alleged involvement in the VBS saga whilst she was still Mayor of Lepelle-Nkumpi Municipality. MEC Sibanda-Kekana said she has also subjected herself to the rule of law and has not been found wanting to date.
“I want to indicate vividly that the Premier has done a lot of consequence management [on this matter]. There are law enforcement agencies that are hard at work. To ensure that those who are found to be on the wrong side of the law are brought to book.”
LEDET MEC, Monama said that he is overwhelmed to be afforded the opportunity to transforming the socio-economic landscape. To also deal with the quagmire of the triple challenges (inequality, poverty and unemployment).
Limpopo premier Stan Mathabatha pleased
The changes to the Executive Council come after Premier Mathabatha conducted a further assessment to improve service delivery to the people of Limpopo.
“By now you should know that we have made lots of investigations [on the VBS matter]. We are confident that if there was anything untoward these two [MECs] would have been charged,” said Premier Mathababatha. He was responding to the question of the MECs that he has appointed that are said to be linked to the VBS saga.
Premier Mathabatha also remains steadfastly committed to combating corruption. Should anything come out from the processes followed by law enforcement authorities, the Premier will not hesitate to take decisive action.
The third MEC, Ms. Florence Radzilani, will also be sworn in the next week as she is currently out of the country.
