Limpopo Health MEC Dr. Phophi Ramathuba presided over the handover of additional 28 new ambulances to supplement the already existing fleet in the Blouberg sub district. They were handed over at Ratshatsha Health Center Blouberg Municipality.
The department has procured a total of 66 ambulances to be commissioned during the month of March. It forms part of our ongoing commitment by the department to ensure a timely response to healthcare emergencies.
18 ambulances will be handed over next week while the remaining 20 will be handed over during the last week of March in other districts of our province.
Arrival of new ambulances delight MEC Dr. Phophi Ramathuba
“It’s quite a very fulfilling day for us as the department of health,” said MEC Dr. Ramathuba.
“You can see one has always had a dream that all our drivers must have ambulances that they can own up to and say this is my vehicle I can look after it.
“So this financial year we will be able to procure a total of 66 ambulances. Out of these 66, we also have an extra five planned patient transport. So this brings it to a total of 71.”
