Sport, Arts and Culture Minister Gayton McKenzie has finally released the list of artists or creatives who benefitted from department funding. Since being sworn in, one of the things Minister McKenzie promised was transparency.

He believes some people got away with doing wrong things within the department.

He promised to release the list before 10 am on Wednesday, 10 July. The list includes people who received grant funding and money during COVID-19.

“We should not include people who were asked to perform and got paid on the list. I have been bombarded by people saying that they don’t get help,” said the Minister.

Earlier on Wednesday, Limpopo artist Makhadzi reacted to a statement by the department that she was one of those who had received R 230 over the last 14 months from the department.
