Police are searching for a Man who for the rape of a 16-year-old girl at Gondeni la Ha Mabilu in Thohoyandou, Limpopo. The incident allegedly took place on 17 November 2023. But was only reported at Thohoyandou Police Station on Tuesday, 28 November 2023.

According to the information received, the victim was on her way home when she met her ex-boyfriend who dragged her to his home and raped her.

The victim never reported the matter to the police until recently. A case of rape was opened which was then transferred to the FCS unit for further investigation.

GONDENI RAPE SUSPECT IN THULAMELA ON THE RUN

Police are still searching for the suspect and appeal to anyone with information that can lead to his apprehension to contact Thohoyandou FCS Unit on 082 729 0202. Crime Stop number on 08600 10111 or the nearest Police Station or use MySAPSapp.

Meanwhile, Police in Thohoyandou have arrested one of their own, a Warrant Officer on Wednesday, 29 November 2023. This is for Negligence loss of firearm, Defeating the ends of justice and Perjury.

It is reported that the suspect lied under oath on Tuesday 07 November 2023. He alleged that he was robbed of his service-issued firearm by unknown suspects while he was driving, stopped on the street. He suddenly grabbed and robbed without being injured.

A case of common robbery was opened and investigations conducted. Finally, it was found that the firearm was negligently lost by the suspect on Wednesday at Venda Plaza.

The suspect willingly made a misinterpretation of the statement under oath and created a fake crime scene. Through intensified investigations conducted, a lost firearm was recovered as a result the suspect was arrested.

The suspect is expected to appear before Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court on Thursday 30 November 2023. 

A minibus Driver was found dead with gunshot wounds while carrying school children in Mukula village, Limpopo on Wednesday. 
According to the information, the Police received information regarding the shooting incident along Mukula Public Tarmac Road. Upon arrival with Emergency Services personnel, they discovered a Sprinter minibus parked on the side of the road, presumably carrying school learners.

A male victim was found in the driver’s seat with gunshot wounds. The learners were scattered on the ground. Some were taken to the nearest hospital for trauma, while others were treated at the scene.

The learners alleged that they heard the gunshots after the minibus stopped to pick up the other learner. Some of them even jumped out of the moving minibus. The suspect fled into the bushes and was not identified since it was still dark.

The male victim was certified dead at the scene and was identified by his family as Rudzani Rambani [42]. About six empty cartridges were found inside the minibus.

SCHOLAR TRANSPORT DRIVER KILLED IN MUKULA VILLAGE

The motive behind the shooting is also unknown at this stage. Police in Thohoyandou have since opened a murder case. The Commissioner of the Police in Limpopo has directed the station management to mobilize all resources to ensure that they apprehend the suspect.

“The Police must work around the clock to apprehend all those responsible for the senseless killing. We simply cannot allow our communities to be terrorised by criminals,” said Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe.

Police are appealing to the community for information that can assist with the apprehension of the suspect to contact Investigating Officer Captain Makwela on 082 414 7763, 015 960 1099. Crime stop number 0860010111, the nearest police station, or by sharing information on MySAPSApp.

Police in Thohoyandou have arrested a fellow Police Sergeant for the attempted murder of his landlord over loud music in Makwarela Township. The incident took place on Monday, 20 November at about 22:10.

According to police reports, the landlord found the suspect outside the rented residence playing loud music. He instructed him to stop since it was disturbing pupils with their examination preparations.

Afterwards, the suspect didn’t take it well, and an argument ensued. The suspect fired shots at the victim and then fled the scene. The injured landlord was taken to the nearest hospital with severe gunshot wounds on the upper body.

Police were notified about the incident and opened an attempted murder case, and IPID was notified. The suspect was arrested on Tuesday 21 November 2023 in Vuwani village.

A LANDLORD GETS SHOT BY A POLICE SERGEANT TENANT IN MAKWARELA TOWNSHIP

Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has condemned the incident in the strongest terms.

“Police officers are tasked with safeguarding the people, not harming them. This behavior is intolerable; this member has to face the long arm of the law. This is a warning to those who might still consider doing the same,” said General Hadebe.

The suspect will appear before the Thohoyandou magistrate court soon on charges of attempted murder.

A dream does not become reality through magic, this has been shown by Marvellous Makhado owner of Roana Easy Farm who has just made his dreams a reality by venturing into fish farming.

The 31-year-old from Tshaulu Tsha Ha Bohwana outside Thohoyandou in Vhembe, Limpopo started fish farming in 2018.

He feeds them, removes the eggs, and places them in a different tunnel where they are fertilized. The fertilized fish are then moved to yet another tunnel.

He said he is trying to show young people that you can achieve your dreams, no matter how bad your situation might be.

“I want them to know that starting a business does not need much capital but you can start small and grow. You cannot get anything if you are sitting at home doing nothing. My biggest goal for my business is to grow and supply big shops with fresh fish.

“I started Fish Farming or Aquaculture back in 2018. This is an interesting career to divert into since it is simple to work with fish. They don’t demand a lot of things. You just need to know what you are doing or what I need, then you are good to go,” said Makhado.

ROANA EASY FARM OWNER REALISING HIS DREAMS 

He said this is his life, he can not be marvelous without his fish. That’s how much he loves his career.

“Being a fish farmer helped me to stay away from substance abuse since it always needs me to be more focused. Raising fish is like raising a toddler it needs your undivided attention.

“My goal is to be able to reach out to bigger markets. To help as many youth to take part in aquaculture. For me as a fish farmer, fish farming has diversified my agricultural activities and income streams,” he said.

He said that the journey has been marvelous with the support he is getting from his family and his customers. They give him a reason to keep going.

“I have a passion for fish, I always loved consuming fish at a young age. I always went to a nearby river to catch some fish when I was young. So I developed a love for fish and I have realised that they are highly recommended by doctors because of the nutrition they carry and the fact that it’s a unique project I had to go for it,” he said.

A murder suspect allegedly committed suicide in the holding cells at Thohoyandou Police Station on Thursday, 28 September 2023.

The body of 27-year-old Richard Azwindini Mamali was found hanging in his cell at about 05:00. The suspect had earlier appeared before Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court, Limpopo on two counts of murder.

He was apprehended from his hideout in Mahwelereng, Mokopane under Waterberg District on Tuesday 19 September 2023. This is after he allegedly stabbed and killed his 19-year-old girlfriend at Ha-Magidi Village on Sunday 03 September 2023 at about 22:40, after meeting her on the street.

The deceased, Ridodzula Mudzanani who is from Mbaleni Village reportedly shared two kids with the suspect.

POLICE INVESTIGATE THOHOYANDOU POLICE STATION SUICIDE

It is also believed that the suspect was responsible for another brutal murder that occurred a week later in which the body of a man was discovered in the area. At the time, the Identity Document of the 27-year-old wanted suspect was found next to the deceased giving the impression that he was the one dead.

As the investigation continued it transpired that the deceased individual had his own ID in his pockets.

Subsequent to extensive investigations, it was revealed that the discovered body was not of the suspect. As such they continued to trace him until his arrest in Mahwelereng.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has ordered that a thorough investigation be conducted to determine the circumstances that led to this incident.

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate(Ipid) attended the scene and is probing the case. The circumstances surrounding the incident are also being investigated.

A 27-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday from his hideout in Mokopane following the fatal stabbing of his 19-year-old girlfriend in Thohoyandou.

The suspect was apprehended at Mahwelereng Zone 17, outside Mokopane in Limpopo by the members of the Thohoyandou Task Team. This is after receiving information about his hideout in the area.

It is alleged that on Sunday 03 September 2023 at about 22:40, Police received a complaint about a female victim who was stabbed at Ha-Magidi village. They immediately proceeded to the scene.

Upon arrival, Police found the members of Emergency Medical Services (EM) busy attending to a 19-year-old victim. She later succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The deceased was identified by next of kin as Ridodzula Mudzanani who is from Mbaleni village.

MAN ARRESTED IN MOKOPANE FOR STABBING HIS GIRLFRIEND TO DEATH

Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was walking when she met her boyfriend. After a few minutes, a member of a community heard the girlfriend screaming for help. This is after being stabbed with a sharp object allegedly by the suspect who fled the scene on foot.

The couple had two kids and the motive of the incident is unknown at this stage but domestic violence cannot be ruled out.

After a week of the Incident, a male person was found dead. The Identity Documents of the 27-year-old wanted suspect were found next to the deceased. Giving the impression that he was the one dead and as the investigation continued it transpired that the deceased individual had his own ID in his pockets.

Through further extensive investigations, the Police found out that the unknown body was not of the suspect. As such they continued to trace him until his arrest in Mahwelereng.

“I can assure criminals that the long arm of the law shall never fail. It will follow and catch up with you no matter how long it takes and how far you go. It is evident that they will be nabbed, prosecuted and incarcerated for the evil crimes they commit in the society,” said Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Thohoyandou Magistrate court soon facing charges of murder.

The Division of High Court in Thohoyandou has sentenced a 56-year-old Stepfather to Life Imprisonment for the rape of his 14-year-old stepdaughter in Saselamani, Limpopo.

The court heard that on Monday, 25 February 2019 the accused [who cannot be named to protect the identity of the victim] went to his wife’s residence and found the victim, who is his stepdaughter, alone.

He promised her a job and left. Buy a few hours later, he came back to fetch the victim towards the bushes, where he then raped her.

The Police opened a case of rape. It was transferred to the Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offense Unit for further investigation. They assigned the case to Detective Sergeant Precious Nkuna to investigate.

STEPFATHER GETS LIFE IMPRISONMENT FOR RAPE OF HIS STEPDAUGHTER IN SASELAMANI

The accused was subsequently arrested the following day Tuesday, 26 February 2019. The Investigating Officer Sergeant Nkuna successfully opposed bail against the accused. He was remanded in custody until he was convicted of rape and sentenced to life imprisonment on 19 September 2023.

Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has welcomed the sentencing. She further applauded the investigating officer and her team for their intense investigations and commitment to arresting the rapist and securing the conviction.

The accused was declared unfit to possess a firearm. His particulars are to be included in the National Register for Sexual Offenses.

Police in Thohoyandou, Limpopo have arrested a 15-year-old girl who was caught in possession of unlicensed firearms. The firearms allegedly belong to her boyfriend who was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm, attempted murder and house robbery committed earlier this month in Thohoyandou.

According to information available at this stage, Police received a complaint about a teenager who was in possession of firearms at about 11:00.

Police acted swiftly and immediately located the suspect at the premises and approached her. The suspect was searched and Police found two unlicensed firearms in her possession. She was then asked about their origin but failed to provide a satisfactory response.

The suspect was immediately placed under arrest on the spot for being in possession of unlicensed firearms.

THOHOYANDOU 15-YEAR-OLD CAUGHT WITH UNLICENSED FIREARMS

Preliminary investigations indicated that the unlicensed firearms belonged to the boyfriend. He was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm, attempted murder and house robbery that were committed in August under the Thohoyandou Policing precinct.

The suspect is expected to appear before the specialized Children’s Court at Thohoyandou Magistrate soon. She is facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearms.

The Mayor of Thulamela Local Municipality, Sarah Rambuda paid a visit to the family of the late Bishop RC Madzinge who died this week. Bishop RC Madzinge, who is the son of Dr Apostle VW Madzinge, died in a horrific vehicle accident on Monday 21 August.

The Mayor was accompanied by the EXCO Members and Thulamela Pastors Forum during the visit to the family Thohoyandou Block F, Limpopo.

The collapse of a section of a building in the central business area of Thohoyandou, Limpopo on Monday has raised concerns. The Rammbuda Complex, one of Thohoyandou’s oldest original shopping complexes, collapsed on Monday morning.

Eyewitnesses say they heard a loud noise at about 09:30, followed by the crashing of bricks and steel structures. The complex was extensively affected, also leading to the closure of all shops close by.

One injury was confirmed with the disaster management team, along with workers from the various shops within the complex working diligently to sift through the debris and cut through twisted steel, using grinders.

Local law enforcement also faced challenges managing the disorderly crowds that gathered at the scene.

SHOCK AS THOHOYANDOU BUILDING COLLAPSE 

The cause of this incident remains under investigation as the authorities seek to determine the factors that contributed to the collapse. Mayor of Thulamela Local Municipality Cllr. Sarah Rambuda visited the collapsed buildings at Thohoyandou CBD. More than seven shops were affected.

“We are here to monitor the situation and to also give moral support to the affected business,” said Mayor Rambuda. 

The Mayor was accompanied by the EXCO members, LED officials, Vhembe Disaster Management officials and Labour inspectors.
