An 18-year-old teenager Khodani Takalani from Vondwe village, Limpopo was granted bail of R3000 by the Thohoyandou Magistrates’ Court. It is alleged that Khodani stabbed his girlfriend Tshinakaho Munyai (15) to death on 5 December 2021.

In granting the accused bail, the court gave him the following conditions:
1. The applicant must relocate from Vondwe Phalama to Makwarela
2. He must not go back to Vondwe Phalama until the completion of the case
3. He must not interfere with the state witnesses and the complainant during the investigation.

Khodani deceived the police that they were walking on the street when they were confronted by an unknown man armed with a knife. He ran away while the unknown man dragged the deceased into the bushes.


However, the accused was arrested on a murder charge two days later after a meticulous investigation by the investigating officer. The lifeless body of the deceased was later discovered by members of the public. The matter was postponed to 25 February 2022 for further investigations.

Police in Thohoyandou have acted swiftly to arrest the suspect in the murder case of a 15-year-old girl, Tshinakaho Munyai. Munyai from Vondwe Village in the Vhembe district, Limpopo was murdered on Saturday night. 

An 18-year-old suspect was apprehended within days after he allegedly murdered Tshinakaho in Vondwe.

The suspect was reportedly walking in the company of the victim and after an argument, he allegedly stabbed her to death. He initially told the police that the victim was stabbed by an unknown suspect who confronted them whilst walking from the local Resort.

Following detailed investigations conducted by the Police, the 18-year-old teenager was arrested and charged with murder.


The suspect is a learner in one of the Secondary Schools in the area. He is expected to appear in Thohoyandou magistrate court today, Wednesday, 8 December 2021.

Limpopo Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has commended the Police in Thohoyandou for arresting the suspect.

Lieutenant General Hadebe also thanked community members for continuously assisting the police in the fight against crime by providing valuable information that often resulted in the arrests of the suspects.

Police in Thohoyandou seek information that can lead to the arrest of a suspect responsible for the brutal murder of a 15-year-old girl. Her body was found in the bushes at Vondwe village, Limpopo on Sunday 05 December 2021 at about 19:00.

It is alleged that the victim was walking with a male companion from The Lion Inn Resort. Which is situated at Tshivhilwi village on Saturday night, 4 December 2021 at about 21:00. They were allegedly confronted by an unknown male suspect next to Muofhe Filling station.

The suspect allegedly produced a knife and threatened the male companion who fled the scene. The suspect then grabbed the girl and forcefully dragged her into the nearby bushes. He subsequently stabbed her to death before fleeing the crime scene.

The Police were busy with patrol duties at about 19:00 on Sunday. When they were notified by a community member about the body of a female person lying in the nearby bushes and quickly rushed to the area. Upon arrival at the scene, they found the body of a young girl with stab wounds on her upper body.


The deceased was identified as Tshinakaho Munyai from Vondwe village. Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has urged community members to assist the Police. By providing valuable information that can lead to the arrest of the killer.

“Following the launch of 16 Days of Activism For No Violence Against Women and Children last month, horrendous crimes like this require active involvement of community members and other formations across the Province, to assist the police in the fight against this scourge,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.
