The second instalment of the Polokwane City Marathon taking place on Saturday 27 April at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium is expected to be bigger.

The comrades’ qualifier event has a total prize pool of R200,000 up for grabs. The organisers have promised an exhilarating experience for seasoned runners and newcomers alike. It will consist of the 42.2-kilometre marathon, 21km, 10km and a 5-kilometre fun run.

Meanwhile, PSL giants Kaizer Chiefs has offered a special incentive for early registrants. The first 3000 participants to register will each receive a complimentary ticket to witness the clash between Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium later on the day. The match starts at 17:30.

EXECUTIVE MAYOR JOHN MPE TO TAKE PART IN THE POLOKWANE CITY MARATHON  

Executive Mayor, Makoro John Mpe says as the economic hub of the Limpopo Province, The City of Polokwane continues to use sports activities to promote tourism to market the city and stimulate economic activities through the organization of major sporting events. He said sports events will always be an investment opportunity to ensure that the City is promoted as the sports and tourism hub in the Limpopo Province and aspires to be counted as one of the best sporting hub in the country.

The executive mayor also emphasized the importance of participation in this prestigious event.

“Polokwane City Marathon embodies the spirit of unity and resilience that defines our municipality,” he said. 

“By taking part in this event, we not only challenge ourselves physically. But also come together to support one another and celebrate our shared commitment to health and wellness.
